Angus has gained 13 years oil field experience; commencing in 1997 with three years as a Service Hand for a coring company (Corpro Systems Ltd) working in the Far East, Middle East and the North Sea. He then joined the Santa Fe Well Engineering training scheme which he completed in 2004 with the attainment of Chartered Engineer status through the IMMM and subsequently the attainment of Chartered Scientist status in 2005. In early 2005, Angus left ADTI (a division of GlobalSantaFe formed post-merger between Santa Fe and Global Marine) to further his career in Drilling Engineering through Contract Positions.
